Zeiss has announced a new 85mm f/1.4 short telephoto lens, which Zeiss say is the best short tele lens in the world.
The large initial aperture is ideal for isolating your subject from the background. As well as portraits, the lens is also ideal for low light and available light photography.
Zeiss say the apochromat design of the lens eliminates virtually all possible forms of aberration. Chromatic aberrations are corrected with elements of special glass, with anomalous partial dispersion. The lens has 11 elements in 9 groups, and is available in F mount and EF mount.
The Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 will be available to view for the first time at Photokina 2014. The lens should be available from mid-September. The expected recommended retail price is 3,360 Euros as of September 8 2014.
